How Long Should I Order For My Curly Lace Wigs and Mono Wigs? The hair length measurement of full hand-tied wigs is different from regular wigs. For regular wigs, we measure the length of the wig, from crown to end, no matter it is a curly hair style wig or straight hair style wig. For full hand-tied wigs, we do not measure the length of the wig, we measure the length of the straight hair before styling, from crown to the end of the wig. When it is a curly hair style, the wig length will be much shorter than a same length straight hair style. It would be 2"-12" shorter, depending on the types of curls and waves. In order to know how long we should order for our curly hair styles, we need to understand the concept Spring Factor.
The spring factor is the difference in the length of a curl when it falls naturally and when it is extended.
SPRING FACTOR OF A SHOULDER LENGTH CURL:
Pull a strand of dry curls down against your shoulder to its full length. Leave your finger at the point where the strand touches. Now let go. Measure the distance between your finger and where your curl naturally ends. The number is the spring factor.
CORKSCREW CURLS = 9-12 INCHES
BOTTICELLI CURLS = 5-8 INCHES
WAVY CURLS = 2-4 INCHES
This is to say, if you want a shoulder length (about 12” long) corkscrew curl style lace wig, you need to order the hair length 21”-24” long. If you want a shoulder length Botticelli curl style lace wig, you need to order the hair length 17”-20” long. If you want a shoulder length wavy curl style lace wig, you need to order the hair length 14”-18” long.
