Curl-activators or hair balms are used to relax or straighten wavy or curly hair. They will often be delivered in pump-action sprays as light gels, which can then be easily distributed evenly by combing through the hair using a wide-tooth comb. The curl-activators (sometimes called a revitalizer) perk up curls by adding moisture to existing curls, helping renew their bounce.
